The Birds in early Springfield
Bird Res under construction
Below is the James Bird residence being erected on Railroad Avenue in Springfield in the late 1800s. Ramah Bird is standing by the surrey. This house still stands today but has seen changes through the years. The original house had fireplaces in all the rooms but now the chimneys are no longer visible on the roof. - photo by Photo provided
