The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has taken its zeal for Islam to the point of madness reminiscent of Germany in the late 1930s. The accompanying infographic shows how religious minorities, including the Assyrians, Yazidis and Shabaks, have suffered as the ISIS militants have advanced across Iraq.

The Guardian reports that religious leaders across the world have warned that the persecution is fast becoming a genocide. Thousands of Yazidis are still stranded on a mountain near Sinjar without food and water, unable to move without being gunned down. To this point, not much international military aid has come to the Iraqi people, but something must happen soon to stop the slaughter.
