WACO, Texas A college professor proved his expertise went far beyond biochemistry when he charmed a students baby during a lecture.

Baylor University professor Darryn Willoughby has been teaching for 12 years, so when he heard 4-month-old Millie Humphrey fussing in the middle of his exercise bio chemistry class, it didnt faze him one bit.

I carried her around for almost an hour and she was totally content, Willoughby told Today. We never heard a peep out of her the entire class.

Millies mom, Katy Humphrey, brought her daughter to the lecture after her babysitter canceled last minute. Shed taken a class from Willoughby when she was pregnant with Millie, and hed told her that if she ever needed to bring her baby to class, it was fine with him, according to Today.

It made me feel relieved to know I would be able to learn and take care of my daughter, she said.

Willoughby said he could tell Humphrey was getting distracted and stressed when Millie began to make noise, and he didnt want her to miss out on the learning experience.

I didnt do it for myself. Its just about me looking out for and taking care of my students, he said. It was an issue more so just her being able to feel more comfortable and relaxed in class.

Humphrey is working to become a physical therapist, according to Today. After spending time in Afghanistan as a Marine, she felt called to work with wounded warriors.

Humphrey told Today shes grateful to her professor for helping her accomplish her goal while at the same time fulfilling her duties as Millies mom. The professor who has two children himself said he cant get enough of the little girl who made his lecture much more interesting.

Weve become not only professor and student, but friends, Willoughby said.
