Its hard to remember a time when the Internet wasn't a part of everyday life, but a new BMW ad set to air during the Super Bowl on Sunday reminds us of a simpler era when we didnt recognize the at symbol and may have asked, What is Internet anyway?

Turns out, it was only 21 short years ago that TV host and journalist Katie Couric asked that very question.

The ad, Newfangled Idea, shows a clip from a 1994 episode of The Today Show where Couric and Bryant Gumbel express their confusion over the Internet and its vocabulary.

The video fast-forwards to show Couric and Gumbel driving BMWs first all-electric car. The two seem to be just as confused by the technology powering the car as they were by the Internet 21 years ago. The ads slogan is, Big ideas take a little getting used to.

The ad was released Monday morning and has been viewed over 80,000 times.
