Komen for the Cure grant fund applications due Thursday

The Coastal Georgia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is accepting applications for fiscal year 2009 grant funds through Dec. 18. The Komen Coastal Georgia Affiliate will award grants totaling $150,000.

Breast cancer and breast health programs of nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies and educational institutions in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties are eligible to apply for grant funds from the Affiliate.

The mission of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. The Affiliate is pleased to award grants ranging from $5,000 to $60,000 to help fund local organizations and programs in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties that support that mission.

Grant applications must be postmarked by 5 p.m. on Dec. 18. Announcements of funding will be made during the week of March 16 and funding disbursements will begin in April, following the receipt of signed contracts.
