The grand marshal of the Rincon Lions Christmas Parade wasn’t expecting to receive the honor. In fact, he hasn’t let many people know about it — yet.
The Lions Club has named Rob and Debbie Porterfield as this year’s grand marshals of the parade, which will begin Saturday at 10 a.m.
“I’m looking forward to it, and I know Debbie is too,” said Rob Porterfield, the principal at Effingham County Middle School. “We were kind of shocked when Danny called us and asked if we were interested. It ought to be a fun time.”
