The Savannah Red Cross is holding the first national CPR/AED awareness week and is training people on CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator.

“The Red Cross wants the public to know that everyone has the power to save a life. At least one person in every household and on every office floor should be trained and certified in first aid and CPR/AED,” said Dan Kurtz, health and safety director of the Savannah Chapter.

If you would like to get trained call the Savannah Red Cross at (912) 651-5300 or visit the Web site at www.savannahredcross.org for a list of class dates and times.

He named his truck after a Steve Winwood song, avoids watching FSU games (they lose when he does), and swears by tacos, kindness, and good storytelling. Want to swap guitar tips or mystery recs? Jake’s your guy — just don’t ask him to weed the garden. Get to know more about Jake and why he’s all in on Effingham County.
