Hey Beautiful Salon in Springfield will be holding specials during the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Jinci Allen, owner of Hey Beautiful, said part of the events were to give something back to the clients.

“There are six girls in here and we all stay pretty busy, so we’re very fortunate that during this time we stay pretty steady,” she said. “The economy is hard. We wanted to do something on a budget, but then we also decided that we have so many clients that come in that have had breast cancer.”

She said they then decided to dedicate the whole month to breast cancer awareness. All month there will be specials.

“We’re doing something called pink ink, and what pink ink is, it’s semi-permanent hair color,” Allen said. “And we’re doing strips of pink in the hair for $5, and we’re going to match $5, and that will go to the cause.”

Allen said Oct. 17 is the big event day. They will be giving $10 haircuts from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. as part of the event. There also will be face painting and nail painting by high school art students.

“They are also making little things to sell, like wine glasses with the ribbon, and just different things with the ribbon on it,” she said.

She said there will be baskets that will be raffled off during the day as well; there will be $1 raffles throughout the month.

“Whenever you chose to come in during the whole month, even if you don’t get a hair cut, you can come in and donate to the cause. When you donate I have ribbons that you can put someone’s name in honor or in memory of.

“It’s hit close to home for more and more every day,” she said.
