In an effort to enable more individuals and their families to enjoy stability, Ready2CONNECT (R2C) works to assist residents of Effingham County with developing the necessary tools and gaining the proper knowledge to create better futures for themselves.

R2C is a career and family empowerment center that assists individuals and families who are unemployed or underemployed.

With the assistance of community partnerships, individuals have access to community resources that will aid with the process of career readiness.

Through the Community Network Navigation Empowerment Career Training Program, individuals acquire skills for employment through job readiness workshops, life skills training and career advisement.

In addition to career readiness, individuals will have access to self-development programs that will be essential to the emotional encouragement that is necessary to succeed.

As the Founder and Executive Director of Ready2CONNECT, Destiny Bradshaw recognizes this is vital towards the success of the program.

“Through individualized case management we offer a navigation tool,” Bradshaw said. “In many cases, people just need a place to go to work things out. The orientation into the program is very important because the see that they are not alone.”

In addition to the career training program, R2C also offers a GED and Literacy Program, CONNECTEd facilitated by Future Minds, as a tool for individuals to gain their GED in an effort to prevent any potential barriers for employment.

Through funds donated by local churches, organizations and community supporters, R2C’s also supports the Hope for Everyone Looking for Provisions (H.E.L.P.) program provides financial resources to families as they strive to reach their goals.

Participants who utilize H.E.L.P. must commit to attending career and financial wellness workshops offered by CONNECT and its partnering organizations.

In exchange, they can receive career support assistance, such as gas expenses for interviews or job searches in addition to other needs.

Participants who have committed themselves will leave the program with a sense of newly found hope and confidence.

“It’s amazing to see people work together to improve the lives of others and that in itself is powerful”, Bradshaw said.

The Career Center is open from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and offers a GED Prep Class from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The computer lab is open from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday.
