Springfield Garden Club Decorating Contest set Wednesday
Springfield decorating contest

SPRINGFIELD -- The Springfield Garden Club has a long standing tradition of appreciating and recognizing Springfield's residences, churches and businesses for the lovely Christmas decorations that help to create a wonderful Christmas spirit throughout the community during the Christmas season. This year, Springfield Garden Club will continue this tradition by awarding ribbons for outstanding decorations and festive lighting.

On Wednesday at 6 p.m., special elves from the garden club will begin their annual tour through Springfield's business, worship and residential areas, viewing and appreciating all of the beautiful decorations displayed by our talented residents, churches and businesses. As the old saying goes, "It's a tough job, but someone must do it!" Garden Club members are so happy to be those volunteers!

Ribbons will be placed for the most outstanding displays in a variety of categories! Photos and names for these most wonderful and festive decorations will be promptly reported to Santa and submitted to the The Effingham Herald to be published.

The Springfield Garden Club appreciates its city, county and all of the work that our leaders, businesses, churches and citizens do to improve the beauty and atmosphere of Springfield and Effingham County. It looks forward to this wonderful time of year and to the opportunity to encourage and celebrate Christmas joy and beauty. So get to work Springfield. Springfield is right around the corner!
