Christopher Joel and Megan Kimberly Carter

Megan Kimberly Hunt and Christopher Joel Carter were married April 18, 2009. at St. Simons Presbyterian Church on St. Simons Island. Dr. Ronald Wesley Scates of Highland Park Presbyterian Church of Dallas, Texas officiated at the ceremony. A reception was held at The Cloister Hotel ballroom on Sea Island. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at The Boathouse at Frederica Township on St. Simons Island.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Herbert Hunt of Dallas, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Herbert Hunt of Highland Park, Texas, and Mrs. Bebe Mills Flynn and the late John Franklin Flynn of Denison, Texas.

The groom is the son of The Honorable and Mrs. Earl Leroy Carter of Pooler. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Terrell Coppage of Waycross and Mr. Joseph Talmadge Carter and the late Mrs. Zena Cannon Carter of Guyton.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. The matron of honor was Elizabeth Floyd Hunt, sister in law of the bride. The maid of honor was Elizabeth Graham Jones. Her bridesmaids were Nancy Lois Allred, Emily Alexander Balentine, Margaret Doggett Crow, Brittany Dunlap Hunt, Kathryn

Ann Heaberg, Stephanie Lauren Shafer and Megan Ann Walker. The flower girls were Deborah Elizabeth Hunt and Sharon Nancy Hunt.

The best men were the groom’s brothers, Jonathan Barrett Carter and William Travis Carter. The groomsmen were Joseph Daniel Boaen IV, Andrew Strubing Ellison, John Heddens Kingston Junior, Coleman Robert Lyons III, John Fielding Troutman III, Ben Burke Wall Junior and George Anderson Mercer Willis.

Members of the houseparty were Mary Hess Eliason, Weston Waight Jones, Caroline Walters Kirk, Abigail Bryant Olson, Sara Bryant Olson and Margaret Leckie Roberts. The ushers were Benjamin Terrell Coppage, Austin Douglas Hunt, Casey Herbert Hunt, Davin Patrick Hunt, Taylor Flynn Hunt, Canon Lewis Hutcheson and Kyle Andrew Hutcheson. The ring bearer was Andrew Allan Eliason.

The bridal gown was designed by couture bridal gown designer Peter Langner in Rome, Italy. It is made of taroni silk mikado and taroni silk satin. The gown was asymmetrically draped with a lily-like effect at the strapless neckline and a wide waistband of satin accented by rows of trapunto stitching. The full A line skirt ends in the folds of a chapel train. The veil, made of imported Alencon lace and silk illusion, was worn by her mother, her aunts and her cousin.

The bride is a 2003 graduate of Highland Park High School. She graduated magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She was presented at The Tyler Rose Festival and La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.

Until recently, she was employed as an educational marketing assistant for Random House Children’s Books in New York City.

The groom is a 2003 graduate of Savannah Country Day School in Savannah. He graduated cum laude from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and accounting. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

Until recently, he was an investment banking analyst for Merrill Lynch and Company in New York. He is now an associate with Harren Equity Partners in Charlottesville, Va.

For their honeymoon, the couple went to Little Dix Bay. They now reside in Charlottesville, Va.
