Healthy Kids Day at the Y

Special to the Herald

The YMCA of Coastal Georgia invites families to join in the celebration of Healthy Kids Day®, Saturday, May 4, an annual event aimed at promoting health and wellness among children and families. Held at 9 branches spanning Coastal Georgia, each location will offer unique activities tailored to the community it serves. From interactive games to educational workshops, Healthy Kids Day promises a day of excitement and exploration for all ages.

As part of the festivities, the YMCA will kick off the summer season with the opening of its pools, providing a refreshing escape from the heat and an opportunity for families to make a splash together.

Additionally, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia is launching its "Sun's Out Summer at the Y" membership promotion, waiving the Joiner's fee for new members throughout the summer. And the first 250 to sign up association-wide will receive an exclusive YMCA of Coastal Georgia custom beach towel. (One per individual or family membership)

“It is so important for kids to stay active over the summer, both physically and mentally. At the Y, we believe in providing resources for families to create healthy habits, no matter the time of year. Healthy Kids Day is a fun, free community-wide event that encourages families to take advantage of all the great summer activities the Y has to offer,” said Mary Arocha, senior vice president of Membership and Healthy Living of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia,

The Effingham YMCA at 1224 Patriot Dr. in Rincon will welcome Dynacraft Bikes, who will be giving free test rides and giving away bicycles! There will also be local vendors, healthy living demonstrations, and snacks. Local police and fire departments will be on hand with K9 units.
