Augusta Democrat lawmakers back Barrow

AUGUSTA — On Friday, U.S. Rep. John Barrow (D-Savannah) accepted the endorsement of every Democratic member of the Augusta delegation to the Georgia General Assembly.  Sen. Ed Tarver, Rep. Quincy Murphy, Rep. Gloria Frazier, Rep. Wayne Howard and Rep. Hardie Davis all joined Congressman Barrow as he kicked off his campaign in Augusta. Sen. J.B. Powell also has endorsed Congressman Barrow.

“I’m humbled by these endorsements,” said Barrow. “The people of Augusta are incredibly well served in Atlanta, and it’s an honor to have the support of such a great group of legislators. As a veteran of local government, I know that this kind of grassroots support is invaluable.

“We’re all committed to tackling the issues that matter most to Georgia families, like bringing down the cost of health care, and good schools for our kids. These legislators have been my most valuable partners in state government, and I rely on each and every one of them every day. Working together, we’ll continue to make sure that the folks in this area have the best representation at the state and federal level.”

“If we have a problem, we know where to turn,” said Howard. “John Barrow is always ready, willing, and able to help us out. When we needed to draw attention to the environmental injustices at Hyde Park, John was there, touring the area in Augusta and asking the tough questions in Washington. That's the kind of representative this area needs, someone who’s always willing to stand up for what's right.”

“I have been able to count on John Barrow for issues important to families in my district and throughout the state of Georgia,” said Davis. “We both believe in being fiscally conservative and socially responsible. That's why John has been able to provide effective leadership and was recently ranked the third most powerful member of Georgia's congressional delegation.”

Barrow is currently serving his second term as the representative for Georgia's 12th District.
