U.S. Rep. John Barrow (D-Savannah) will be hosting a dental health fair at the Macy’s Court in the Oglethorpe Mall on Aug. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The dental health fair will feature free oral health screenings for children and adults, preventative education programs, referrals, free toothbrushes and toothpaste, and much more.

Many people are unaware that sound oral health can help prevent cardiovascular disease and stroke.

“Dental health care is usually what folks cut out first during hard times, but that doesn’t mean it’s not important,” Barrow said. “I hope folks will come by and take advantage of the programs we’re offering so that they can take care of this very important health issue without having to pay a lot of money for an office visit.”

Representatives from Armstrong Atlantic State University School of Dental Hygiene, Coastal Health District/Chatham County Health Department, Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council, Curtis Cooper Health Center, J.C. Lewis Health Center, Savannah Volunteer Dental Clinic, and other
organizations will be on hand to answer questions, give advice, and screen for tooth decay.

The event is free and open to the public.

For additional information, please contact Barrow’s Savannah office at (912) 354-7282 or (866) 890-6236.
