The Effingham Chamber of Commerce announced its next Chamber Lunch ‘n Learn business meeting which will be held Oct. 28 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Mars Theatre in downtown Springfield.

The topic will be, “What to expect from having a movie studio in your backyard.” A panel of film experts will on hand to have a roundtable type discussion about the realities of movie production and its impacts on a community.

“With Moon River Studios close to construction now, it’s important for our community and others in our area to have a clearer picture of what really takes place when a film production is staged in the area,” said Chamber Director Rick Lott.

Discussion panelists will include: Craig Dominey, program manager for the state of Georgia’s Camera Ready Program; William P. Hammargren, Savannah Film Services director; Ruel Joyner, president of the Savannah Downtown Business Association; and Jake Shapiro, CEO of Moon River Studios.

The lunch meeting will be held inside the recently renovated and historic Mars Theatre in Springfield. A boxed lunch will be served and some film clips of film production in action will be shown on the big screen. Cost for Effingham Chamber members will be $12 and for visitors, $15. Reservations are needed for an accurate lunch headcount.
