Kim Dennis has been named as the general manager of the Effingham Herald, Morris Multimedia Vice President Joe McGlamery announced Monday.

Dennis served as executive director of the YMCA of Effingham County from 1999-2016. She is a 1996 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a bachelor of science in speech education.

“Since Karen Tanksley retired in April 2015, I have been looking for the right person to take over management of the Effingham Herald,” McGlamery said. “I am confident I have found that person in Kim Dennis. Her experience at managing people, her knowledge of Effingham County and its people, her vision for the proper role for a community newspaper and her overall enthusiasm portrays to me that she is the right person for the job.”

Dennis, who is married and the mother of two children, began her new position with the Herald on Monday.

“I’m really excited about this new opportunity to serve Effingham County,” she said. “I have a lot of great ideas for keeping the Herald up-to-date and capturing a new audience. I look forward to joining this team.”

In addition to the weekly edition of the Effingham Herald, the Herald also produces several special publications each year, along with the monthly Kidsville News for elementary school children and the Effingham Living magazine four times a year.
