USDA payments program deadline approaches

Pamela Poole, Executive Director of USDA’s Effingham-Bryan-Chatham County Farm Service Agency reminds farmers of the approaching deadline to enroll eligible farms into the 2010 Direct and Counter Cyclical Payments Program or DCP.

To enroll, contracts must be recorded in the County FSA Office by June 1,  and all persons sharing in the payments generated from the contract must have signed the contract by the deadline or the contract cannot be approved.

Producers in Effingham County are urged visit the County FSA Office as soon as possible to complete their 2010 DCP contract by the June 1 deadline.

There is no provision for late-filing a 2010 DCP contract and so those producers who miss this June 1 deadline will not be eligible for this program again until the 2011 signup period.

For more information about DCP and all USDA FSA programs, visit: http://www.fsa.usda.gov, or visit the Effingham-Bryan-Chatham FSA Service Center, 203 S. Laurel St., Suite 206, Springfield, GA 31329. The telephone number to call is 754-6664.
