SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after responding to the call of an unresponsive child Dec. 22. Just after 9:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 600 block Of Go Cart Road in response to a four-year-old child was that was found unresponsive by a family member. CPR was attempted by the family member and deputies.

The child, however, was pronounced deceased a short time later. Investigators were notified and began an investigation.

 No further information will be available until autopsy results have been released.
