SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal crash.
On Wednesday at approximately 6:19 p.m, the unit responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Stillwell Road and Log Landing Road in Rincon. The crash involved one SUV and two motorcycles. The preliminary investigation indicates the SUV was traveling north on Log Landing Road when it attempted to cross Stillwell Road onto Berry Rahn Road. The SUV failed to yield to two motorcycles traveling east on Stillwell Road.
Emergency services were also dispatched to the scene and transported one of the motorcycle operators with critical injuries. The rider, 23-year-old Hunter Davis of Rincon, succumbed to those injuries upon arrival at Effingham Hospital. The second rider did not sustain serious injuries. The crash investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
