GUYTON -- Jay Patel is rarely an eyewitness to the crashes. He hears them regularly, however.

Patel runs a register at the convenience store at the intersection of Blue Jay Road and Hwy 17. He is usually turned away from the congested area when tires start screeching and multiple vehicles collide.

"I would say there have been 30 or 40 wrecks in the three or four years I have worked here," Patel said. "If you stay here long enough today, you will probably see one, too."

There were two accidents at the intersection Thursday.

Patel and his customers believe it is urgent that something be done to rectify the problem before it is too late.

"Someone is going to get killed," Patel said.
