An Alma woman is behind bars after Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies arrested her Wednesday for impersonating a police officer.
Deputies made an investigative stop at Highway 30 and Nease Road. Jessica Wilkins, 20, was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and told deputies she was a law enforcement officer from Ware County.
Deputies contacted Ware County authorities, who told them she was not a member of any law enforcement agency there.
“She’s not a law enforcement officer anywhere that we know of,” said ECSO Detective David Ehsanipoor.
Impersonating a law enforcement officer is a felony in Georgia and stiff penalties can result.
Wilkins was charged with one count of impersonating an officer and was taken to the Effingham County Jail.
