A Clyo man faces several charges after an incident Sunday afternoon in the Lowe’s parking lot.

At approximately 4:24 p.m., Rincon Police officers responded to the Lowe’s Home Improvement Center in Rincon after being dispatched by Effingham County 911 to a man pointing a handgun at the head of a female in the parking lot of Lowes.

Upon arrival, officers saw Andre Jaudon Taft, 35, of Clyo, attempting to leave the scene in his car. Officers conducted an investigative stop in the Lowes parking lot and Taft was detained.

Further investigation revealed that Taft had met his ex-wife at Lowes and became involved in an argument over a cellular telephone. The dispute escalated when Taft pulled a revolver and pointed it at his ex-wife head in the presence of minor children.

A loaded .357 magnum was recovered from under the driver’s seat of the automobile Taft was driving.

Taft was placed under arrest and taken to the Effingham County Jail and charged with aggravated assault (Family Violence Act), possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and cruelty to a child in the first degree.

Rincon Police Chief Mike Bohannon said the case has been bound to Effingham County Superior Court.
