Deputies arrest suspect wanted on DNA evidence

A wanted burglary suspect is now in custody after the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s assistance in locating him.

ECSO deputies located Jonathan Crosby, 39, of Bloomingdale near a residence on Highway 204 near Old River Road in Chatham County. In August 2009, an elderly victim walked into her residence to find an intruder inside burglarizing the residence on Low Ground Road in Effingham County.

Sheriff’s investigators have matched DNA collected from the scene to Crosby.

Crosby, who is currently on parole, is being held in the Effingham County Jail.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
