Deputies arrest two on drug charges

Effingham County Sheriff’s drug investigators have arrested two people and seized nearly a pound of marijuana, over a half ounce of crack cocaine, scales and a vehicle during a drug operation in Effingham County.

Richard Pinkney Jr., 49, of Rincon, and Lawrence Brown Jr., 44, of Guyton, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, conspiracy, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

arrests stem from an extensive investigation conducted by the Effingham County Sheriffs Office Drug Suppression Unit. More arrests are expected in the near future.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
