Two men have been arrested for enticing a minor online and having sex with her in Effingham County.

Clinton “Clint” Clements, 32, of Guyton and James Lewis Jr., 29, of Hortense, an unincorporated community in Brantley County, both “engaged in sexual activity with the child,” according to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

Investigators determined that Lewis contacted the victim through social networking and developed an online relationship with her. Lewis then traveled from Brantley County to Effingham to have sex with the girl, said ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

Whereas the ECSO sometimes conducts stings with investigators posing online as minors, Lewis carried on conversations with an actual underage girl and then acted on them.

“He was actually engaging in sexual acts with a minor,” Ehsanipoor said.

During interviews with the child, she revealed that Clements also contacted her and engaged in sexual activity with her.

Clements and Lewis were both charged with child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and interference with custody.

Investigators believe that the two men might have been in contact with other minor children in the area through social networking.

“We are trying to identify additional suspects and victims,” Ehsanipoor said. “Anyone who has any information regarding any other sexual acts with children, we want to hear about it.”

Ehsanipoor reminds parents to monitor their children’s online activity.

“You need to know what your kids are doing all the time,” he said.
