Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a hit and run suspect.

Shortly after midnight on June 19, deputies responded to the Chevron station at Highways and 275 on a report of a hit and run.

According to the clerk, the suspect entered the store to purchase some items. Once he got into his vehicle, the suspect backed up clipping one vehicle and then crashing into the store clerk’s vehicle. He then fled at a high rate of speed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 754-3449. Callers may remain anonymous.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
