ECSO busts two for meth lab

Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people, one of them who is pregnant, on a series of methamphetamine charges Tuesday evening.
 
Donald Roberts, 32, of Rincon, and Melanie Small, 21, of Rincon, were both charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, and manufacturing methamphetamine in the presence of a child after deputies located a meth lab at their residence in the 5400 block of McCall Road South last Friday. 
 
Deputies also found a 2-year-old child was located at the home. Investigators believe that meth was being cooked at that residence for a period of time. 
 
Roberts, who is a convicted felon, also was charged possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Three weapons also were found inside the residence. Small and Roberts are currently being held in the Effingham County Jail.
Father, Son Arrested After Armed Standoff in Eden

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
