Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies are asking for information on two robberies with Hispanic males as the victims.

According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, a Hispanic male was robbed at gunpoint on Oakton Drive late Tuesday night. The suspects are described as black males. One was wearing an Atlanta Falcons jersey, jean shorts and white tennis shoes and his hair was in long dreadlocks. The second suspect wore a hockey mask, similar to the one donned by the Jason Voorhies character in the movie “Friday the 13th,” and also brandished a 12-gauge shotgun.

Deputies also are investigating a robbery that took place late Friday night. Two black males are alleged to have held up five Hispanic males on Quail Run Circle and the suspects were said to be wearing hoods at the time. Investigators believe the two incidents are related.

They also believe that the robbers are targeting Hispanics in the area, and deputies are urging members of the Hispanic community who have information about the crimes to come forward.

“Anybody in the Hispanic community, anybody who may have noticed any criminal activity, we urge them to call us,” said ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed these crimes is asked to call the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 754-3449.
