Theft by Taking-Felony

A man stated that he had previously moved a container to his property to store his tools as he repaired his home from damages caused by Hurricane Matthew. At some point over the next few months, it was broken into and ransacked. Items stolen included four chain saws and an air compressor which were valued at over $1,200. He was unsure of who the culprit might have been. The reporting officer was Matt Smith.

Property Damage

A woman advised that while she was at work, someone backed into the power pole in her driveway. The power pole had a large crack in it and was leading at an angle. She also said that she no longer had power. She claimed that school buses often turn around in her driveway, and broken fragments near the pole matched the design of a bus’s taillight. The reporting officer was John Reinhart.

Obstruction of Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor)

An anonymous source stated that two pit bulls were running around in his yard. They began to bark in an aggressive manner at the sight of police. After one of them was captured, a woman approached the scene and claimed that the dogs were hers. Her brother was asked to load the dogs onto his truck, but as he refused to do so, he was arrested for obstruction of law enforcement. The dogs were taken to a local animal shelter. Discharge of Firearms on or Near Public Highway or Street

A woman working for a local hospital stated that one of her patients had shot himself in the leg. The patient said that he was cleaning the gun when it discharged into his leg. He is expected to make a full recovery. The reporting officer was Kristopher Withem.

No Insurance; Knowingly Driving Motor Vehicle on Suspended, Cancelled or Revoked License

A woman stated that while she was stopped at a traffic light, she was rear ended by a truck that left the scene. A background check revealed that the woman did not have valid insurance and that her registration was suspended. She was allowed to leave the scene with a friend, and her vehicle was towed by a local wrecker company. The reporting officer was James Thompson.

Wanted Person-Warrant Service

A man was spotted traveling down the road on a motorcycle at an extremely high rate of speed. He attempted to avoid police by weaving in and out of traffic, but he eventually pulled over. He stated that he was in a hurry because he was on his way to pick up a friend. He admitted to not having insurance on the motorcycle and was swiftly arrested. Criminal Trespass- Property Damage

A man advised that he had gotten into a verbal argument with his separated wife over his wife’s presence in his house. During the argument, he locked her out of the house, and she responded by kicking the door in. His father-in-law confirmed the story and said that the wife started the argument. The wife was arrested after it was discovered that the door would not shut properly. The reporting officer was James Hurst.

Theft by Shoplifting- Misdemeanor

A woman stated that a man had stolen a pack of crackers from the convenience store where she worked. He denied stealing anything from the store. Crackers were found in the man’s pocket, but he claimed that he brought them from his house. Security cameras at the store confirmed that the man stole the crackers. He was swiftly arrested. Driving Without License; Failure to Maintain Lane

A man was seen passed out in his truck on the side of the road. When he woke up, he began to act in a violent manner and stated that he did not have a license. It was noted that he smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages and that he had urinated on himself. He was placed under arrest, and his truck was towed from the scene. Criminal Trespass- Property Damage

A woman stated that she and her fiancé had gotten into a physical argument over the keys to their camper. During the argument, the fiancé ripped a hole in her shirt. It was noted that she smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages, and she later admitted that she had previously been drinking. The fiancé also admitted to drinking. Blood was present on his knuckles which he claimed was from a work-related injury. Both parties agreed to remain civil toward each other. The reporting officer was James Daniel McKie.

Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects; Brake Light/Turn Signal Violation; Window, Windshield or Wiper Violation; Wanted Person-Warrant Service

A man was spotted driving down the road with a tail light that was not functioning. It was noted that he had a suspicious looking spoon and syringe on the floorboard of his vehicle. He stated that he collected the spoon from a friend’s house while working there. A further search of the vehicle revealed multiple bags of drug related objects. The man later admitted to having used drugs recently. A female passenger was also found to have an outstanding warrant. Both parties were arrested, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Simple Battery-Family Violence

A woman stated that her intoxicated fiancé tried to force her to leave with him when her father intervened. The fiancé pushed the father to the ground and stole his pistol before ultimately giving it back. He grabbed the woman by the neck but let her go and left after she refused to leave. He later called her and threatened to commit suicide if she did not go to his house. He was eventually found and swiftly arrested. The reporting officer was Jason Garland.

Domestic Dispute

A woman stated that her ex-husband blocked her vehicle in her driveway after becoming angry at the sight of her boyfriend. The ex-husband said that he acted in a fit of anger and was wrong to do so. Both parties agreed to remain civil. The reporting officer was Christopher Cary.

Domestic Dispute

A woman stated that her son had tampered with her air conditioning unit to prevent it from heating her residence. The son said that he had gone to the house to see his kids but that the woman would not let him. He claimed to have no knowledge of the air conditioning unit. The woman countered this by saying that the couplings had been removed and that her son had experience with air conditioning units. The son agreed not to return to the house. The reporting officer was Max Barber.

Driving while License Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor)

An unknown informant stated that a suspicious vehicle was parked near a church. The driver advised that he was gathering stumps that he could burn. He did not have his license with him, and a background check revealed that it was suspended due to failure to pay child support. He was placed under arrest, and his vehicle was turned over to a licensed driver. The reporting officer was Max Barber.

Burglary-Second Degree (Felony)

A woman stated that someone had broken into her shed during the night. The lock to the shed was laying on the ground, and the door had been pried open.
