Escapee caught in Jesup

An Effingham County Prison inmate who overpowered his civilian supervisor and fled from a work detail Friday morning has been recaptured in Wayne County.

Wayne County sheriff's deputies found Reginald Jinks, 38, in a stolen vehicle in Jesup. Jinks, who had been serving for burglary convictions, had stolen the car in Evans County, according to Effingham County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Bohannon.

Jinks is being held in the Wayne County jail. He is expected to be charged with kidnapping, escape and two counts of theft by taking.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
