Effingham County Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie announced the arrest of 48-year-old Sharon Ann Williams and 61-year-old Clinton Williams of Rincon on Wednesday. The Williamses are husband and wife.

Sheriff McDuffie said sheriff investigators had been watching the Williams couple for several weeks after reports of the pair selling prescription medication.

Wednesday morning, investigators conducted a stop on Williams, who was driving his Cadillac, and found several thousand tablets believed to be oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine patches and other tablets that are still being identified. Investigators also recovered over $36,000 in cash.

Both Williamses were arrested and taken to the Effingham County Jail and charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Sheriff McDuffie said further arrests are expected in the near future.
