Repeat offender back behind bars

A man considered one of Effingham County’s drug distributors was arrested Thursday afternoon after reportedly selling cocaine to undercover agents.

Samuel Ashley Bartley, 35, of Guyton, was arrested Thursday after a foot chase on Anderson Street in Guyton.

Bartley has an extensive criminal history and has sold cocaine to informants in Effingham County on three occasions. He was out on bond.

Bartley has been arrested and charged with sale of cocaine and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail without bond.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
