Several people are now facing felony drug charges after unknowingly completing a drug transaction next to Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team agents.

According to police reports, shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, members of the CNT were sitting in an unmarked CNT vehicle at the Parker’s gas station at the intersection of Highway 21 at Crossroads in Port Wentworth. Agents selected to hold a briefing at the Parker’s for an operation in the Port Wentworth area. While awaiting the arrival of additional agents, CNT agents observed what they believed to be a drug transaction occurring in the parking-lot between two vehicles.

With the assistance of the Port Wentworth Police Department, both vehicles were stopped at separate locations after the suspected drug transaction was completed.

During a search of the suspected buyer’s vehicle, more than 40 Roxicodone pills were discovered along with additional items of evidentiary value. A search of the suspected dealer’s vehicles resulted in the seizure of additional Roxicodone and over $850 cash.

CNT arrested 23-year-old Eric Bryant Holbert of Rincon. Holbert was charged with sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and use of a telecommunication device.
