Four people are in jail after assaulting and robbing an elderly gentleman late Wednesday night.

Just after 11:30 p.m., Cpl. Yvonne Taylor, assigned to the West Chatham Precinct Patrol Division, was patrolling in the area of the 4000 block of Ogeechee Road when she observed four persons running from the America’s Best Value Inn located at 4015 Ogeechee Rd.

Thinking something was suspicious, Taylor, along with other Metro officers, stopped the individuals as they attempted to get into a vehicle parked at a nearby hotel.

Almost immediately after stopping them, a person called Metro Police 911 Center and said an elderly gentleman staying at America’s Best Value Inn was just assaulted by several people. Police immediately linked the four individuals to the assault and detained them for investigation.

Police spoke with a witness and the victim who told police a female knocked on the victim’s door. When the victim opened the door, several men rushed the doorway, knocking the victim down before assaulting and robbing him of an undisclosed amount of money. Police searched the four individuals and located the victim’s money.

The victim, who is 68 years old, was taken to Memorial Health University Center, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The victim had numerous visible injuries on his person. Police arrested 20-year-old Robert Neal Lee of Garden City, 22-year-old Russell James Lee of Garden City, 21-year-old Brandi Nicole Cielock of Rincon and 30-year-old Floyd Aaron Collins of Rincon.
