Rincon police officers arrested three juveniles Sunday afternoon in connection with a Saturday evening fire.

Around 6:20 p.m. Saturday, an off-duty fireman saw a large fire burning in a wooded area on Highway 21 near Bobby’s Restaurant. Rincon police and fire departments and Effingham County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene.

Rincon police officers and firefighters saw an abandoned house fully engulfed in flames. Police officers and deputies closed Highway 21 because of the potential damage to power lines from the fire. Georgia Power crews checked the integrity of the lines, and the highway was re-opened.

Rincon firefighters put out the blaze.

The case has been referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
