Savannah man arrested after breaking into GeoVista

One man is in the Effingham County Jail after breaking into the GeoVista bank late Christmas night.

According to reports, shortly after 10 p.m. Effingham County Sheriff's deputies and Rincon Police officers responded to the bank on Columbia Avenue in Rincon on a report of a burglar alarm.

Deputies and officers arrived to find forced entry to the rear door. Upon making entry, the suspect was found inside and fled from officers into a wooded area.

The suspect, identified as Timothy Meyers, 44, is facing several charges including burglary, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and possession of tools during the commission of a crime.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
