Effingham County Sheriff's deputies arrested seven people, seizing an illegal firearm, drugs and ski masks Monday afternoon.

A call to 911 on suspicious activity in the Oakton Drive area of Springfield alerted deputies, who were on patrol in nearby neighborhoods. After searching a suspicious vehicle, deputies discovered a sawed-off shotgun, ski masks, gloves and ammunition.

Five males between the ages of 17 and 20 were arrested and taken to Effingham County Jail. Two juveniles also were taken into custody and are at the Claxton Youth Detention Center.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
