Sheriff's office investigating triple shooting

Authorities have confirmed that a longtime Effingham County developer and real estate agent was shot and killed in his home early Monday morning.

Philip Heidt and his son Carey Heidt, also a real estate agent, were found dead in Phillip Heidt's home at approximatley 3:30 a.m. Monday. Philip's wife Linda was wounded and was taken to Memorial University Medical Center. 

Effingham County Sheriff's investigators were called out to the Heidts' home on Springfield-Egypt Road in response to a report of a multiple shooting.

Detectives and the crime scene unit are currently on the scene.

"At this point, we are following leads, working with the GBI. The investigation is ongoing," said Det. David Ehsanipoor. "No arrest has been made."

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
