Incident: Armed robbery/aggravated assault/burglary/possession of a firearm or knife while committing crime/entering motor vehicle with intent to commit theft
City: Springfield
Two unknown offenders entered the unlocked front door of the complainant’s home. They demanded money at gunpoint and forced two female victims into a bathroom. The offenders then stole the wallet and cell phone of one of the male victims before forcing them into a bathroom. The offenders left with about $320 in cash and five cell phones. The case was turned over to the investigation unit.

Incident: Possession of weapon on school property or at school function/possession of controlled substance on or near school property
City: Springfield
During a drug and weapons search, officers found a small amount of a green leafy substance that favored marijuana along with a set of brass knuckles with an inch and a half knife blade in a student’s car. The offender was arrested and taken to jail.

Incident: Fraud
City: Rincon
Complainant received a UPS package from a Rebecca Cox, 1987 Robinway Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio. It contained five traveler’s checks valuing $500 each. An email from a Donald Bliss instructed him to cash the checks. Upon doing so the bank informed the complainant that the checks were fraudulent.

Incident: Criminal trespass
City: Clyo
Two offenders destroyed the roads at the complainant’s hunting club. The road was so badly damaged it was impassable. The offenders were informed of state and county ordinances on four-wheelers. They were given a criminal trespass warning per the complainant’s request.

Incident: Reckless driving/ obstruction or hindering a law enforcement officer
City: Bloomingdale
The offender was clocked traveling at 94 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer pursued the driver and found the car and the passenger in an empty field. The driver fled on foot. The passenger lied about not knowing the driver. Both men were arrested and charged.

April 2
Incident: Fraud
City: Springfield
The complainant received a letter in the mail along with a check for $4,922. The letter instructed her to cash the check and mail back $2,825 to cover taxes on the winnings. After cashing the check, the complainant was informed that it was counterfeit. The case was turned over to detectives for further investigation.

April 5
Incident: Criminal trespass
City: Bloomingdale
The complainant heard someone outside on her driveway. She then noticed her window air conditioning unit being ripped out of her living room window. After calling 911, she saw a gold-colored car leaving the scene.

Incident: Criminal trespass
City: Guyton
A FedEx delivery man backed over the complainant’s concrete deer as he tried to leave. A witness stated that the driver backed over the deer and then pulled forward. He got out to inspect the damage, stood the deer back up and unsuccessfully tried to affix the broken off deer head. He then left. The complainant was given a CRN card and advised of warrant procedures.

April 13
Incident: Failure to notify owner upon striking unattended vehicle
City: Rincon
A Grace Community Church van appeared to have been sideswiped on the passenger side and then dragged sideways about three parking spaces. The extensive damage included a shattered passenger door window and a flat driver side tire. Skid marks were found around the van. The pastor was given a CRN card.

April 17
Incident: Theft by taking
City: Springfield
According to the complainant, she heard a noise coming from the front yard. When she looked, she saw someone backing her car out of the driveway. The case was turned over to the investigation unit.

April 18
Incident: Cruelty to animals
City: Clyo
The witness noticed a navy blue Cadillac with purple flames outlined in sparkly silver and oversized tires with chrome rims moving slowly and around the corner on Morgan Cemetery Road. Later, she heard a shot and saw the same car driving away with a gun barrel sticking out of the driver’s side. She then heard a thrashing sound next door and saw the victim’s dog rolling around. The dog was taken to veterinarian who confirmed that the animal had been shot with a small caliber weapon. The bullet could not be removed since it was too close to the spine.

April 22
Incident: Criminal damage to property/animal complaint
Officer arrived at the scene and discovered the complainant’s partially consumed emu. Several days prior, two pit bulls belonging to his neighbor had attacked and killed several chickens. The emu was in her pen at the time. The complainant noted that he was afraid the dogs would turn to humans and more animals now that they had experienced the taste of blood. Animal control was notified.
