Stabbing leads to discovery of meth lab

Effingham County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a reported stabbing incident that took place Monday morning.

According to spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor, deputies responded to the 400 block of Jarrett Woods Drive on a report of a sexual assault.

Deputies found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds and a woman suffering from multiple blunt force trauma.

Deputies also discovered a methamphetamine lab on the property.

No one else was involved in the incident. According to investigators, the woman is responsible for the man’s injuries and she received her injuries from the man. Charges are pending in the case, Ehsanipoor said.

The man and the woman, whose names have not been released, were taken to Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah for treatment.

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Eden after a domestic dispute led to a standoff. Deputies say George Driggers, 47, threatened his girlfriend and law enforcement with a gun, then barricaded himself inside a home. His father, Alford Driggers, 80, was also charged for allegedly threatening deputies.
