Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested two teens who are accused of burglarizing the property of a homeowner on Goshen Road early Monday morning.

Ridge Yates, 17, of Garden City, and Shawn Wright, 19, of Bloomingdale have both been charged with burglary. Yates was also charged with one count of criminal damage to property in the second degree.

Deputies were called to the scene Monday morning after a witness observed the suspects gain entry into a shed where several items were being stored including four wheelers. Deputies were on scene within minutes and were able to locate the suspects nearby.

The suspects crashed into one of the victim’s trucks as they were leaving the scene. They also crashed their truck into nearby railroad tracks as deputies arrived in the area.

Both are being held in the Effingham County Jail.
