Deputies seek burglary suspect

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a burglary suspect who fled from a traffic stop Wednesday night.


According to the ECSO, a deputy stopped a vehicle on Midland Road near Highway 17 at approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday.


The driver, Jerry Turner, 27, of Bloomingdale, fled on foot, leaving two small children and their mother behind. Turner is wanted for burglary, parole violation, fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Turner has an extensive criminal history.


Anyone with information on Turner’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 754-3449.
