The Effingham County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspicious death.

On the morning of January 15, 2017, deputies were notified of a body lying along a dirt road in the north end of the county. A white female in her late 20s to early 30s was found deceased.

The exact cause of her death is unknown at this time but is being treated as a suspicious death.
