SPRINGFIELD — Even though there won’t be any votes for them to tabulate until next year, Olivia Morgan and her staff have plenty to do. They stay busy.

Morgan oversees and manages all functions of the Effingham County Elections and Registration Department. Her office will play no role in next month’s municipal elections, which are handled by the cities in the county — Guyton, Rincon and Springfield.

Assisted by Elections Assistant Laura Bassett and Elections Clerk Shannon Myers, Morgan is constantly making sure rapidly growing voter rolls are kept up to date. In August, Effingham County gained about 500 voters.
