Effingham Retired Educators banquet to be held Sept. 6

All retirees of the Effingham County School System are invited to our annual banquet on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The event will be held at the Effingham College and Career Academy beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Please join us as we celebrate the beginning of a new year in EREA.

The meal is being catered and the cost is $15 per person.

The banquet will feature a guest speaker, Volunteer of the Year recognition, Scholarship Award, raffle items to win, a wonderful meal, and a great time to meet and fellowship with other retirees.

We welcome all and a special invitation to our 2017 retirees.

U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., who represents Effingham County, said his twin granddaughters survived catastrophic flooding at Camp Mystic in Texas, but their 9-year-old cousin, Janie Hunt, was killed. Carter shared the heartbreaking news on social media and in interviews with Fox News, CNN, and Atlanta News First, revealing that Janie’s body was found on her mother’s birthday. Carter said his granddaughters survived by climbing onto a roof and waiting for rescue.
