2017 Assessment Notices have been mailed.

Taxpayers have until June 19 to file a written appeal with the Effingham Tax Assessors.

If there are questions or concerns about the notice. please call the Assessor’s office at 912-754-2125, the Assessor’s staff will give you information on your values.

A large number of notices have been returned by the post office for various reasons.

If you owned property in 2016, the 2016 mailing address was used unless you notified the office of a change of address.

If you are a new owner, the address on the PT-61, Real Estate Tax recorded in the Superior Court Clerk’s office was used.

The notices were mailed on May 5 - please contact the Assessor’s office if you own property in the county and did not receive an assessment notice.

Staff in the Assessor’s office makes every effort to find the new address, but are not always successful.

Notices that are returned to the Assessors will be posted in front of the courthouse door and on the Assessor’s website for a period of 30 days.

The deadline for appeal applies and if an appeal is not filed by the deadline, the right to file an appeal will be lost for 2017.
