EHS honors staff with 2017 Employee Appreciation Banquet




Effingham Health System honored staff members of the hospital Thursday night at the Effingham Health System 2017 Employee Appreciation Banquet at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler.

The banquet began with a reception of bruschetta before attendees were treated to a buffet style dinner of lemon chicken, salmon, fried potatoes, sautéed zucchini and squash, salad, rolls and homemade coconut crème pie.

Following the meal, R. Scott Russell, CA Short, served as the guest speaker.

Through jokes, songs and trivia, Russell took attendees back in time through a series of previous years in which hospital workers began their employment with EHS. Russell reminded honorees what songs were popular the year they began, which technological items made their debut and what movies and television shows were first broadcast.

After Russell was done, EHS CEO, Fran Baker-Witt took to the podium and announced award recipients from the crowd. Employees were honored for having served for five years, 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, 25 years and 40 years. In total, over four dozen employees were recognized.

Among those recognized for extended service with EHS was Vicky Little, PHR, Chief of Support Services. Little was recognized for having worked for 40 years with EHS.

Special awards were also given out.

Katie Kumijian, RN, was honored as Employee of the Year, while Z.T. Howard, PT, MS, and Ann Ambrose both received Outstanding Performance Awards.

“Our vision is to provide the highest possible health outcomes for the people we serve, and that ultimately comes down to our people,” Fran Baker-Witt, CEO of Effingham Health System said. “They are leading the change for EHS and we are so proud of their work.”

At the conclusion of the awards, Baker-Witt gave closing remarks and the banquet ended.
