Girl Scout Troop 30197 celebrated the birthday of Girls Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low by honoring Peyton Donchell Thomas, who shares Low’s Halloween birthday and was the first baby girl born at the Telfair BirthPlace at Candler Hospital on October 31. Peyton is the daughter of Erica Thomas and Harry Walker of Savannah.
Girls collected items for a gift basket that included beautiful clothes, fun toys and other baby essentials. Of course, Miss Peyton received a “Future Girl Scout” shirt and her first patch, which also says “Future Girl Scout.”
Teach Right joined in the celebration by making a donation. Abbey Jordan, Jadyn D’Amico, Kenlee Williams, Lydia Layne and Gabby Carey helped put the basket together.
On Nov. 1, Mary Surber and Abbey Jordan delivered the basket and enjoyed spending a little time with their future Girl Scout sister.
Girl Scout Troop 30197 thanked Marybeth Milton of the Telfair BirthPlace for helping connect the girls with Peyton, Erica Thomas for allowing them to visit her daughter and Marian Hodge (owner of Teach Right in Rincon) for her generosity.
