A Guyton man was killed early Thursday morning when a truck in which he was a passenger struck a culvert.

Randy Lamar Luke Sr., 55, of Guyton, was killed when William Harry Waters of Pembroke lost control of his 1986 Ford Ranger on Highway 119 in Bulloch County, left the roadway and struck a driveway culvert, according to Georgia State Patrol reports. The accident took place around 2:15 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle remains in critical condition, according to Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch.

Waters was critically injured and taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch said.

Reports state Waters’ truck came to rest in the south shoulder of the road after impact. The crash investigation was turned over to the State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) for further review.

Futch said Luke had very recently experienced the loss of his father, whose funeral is slated for Saturday.
