Guyton public safety director terminated

GUYTON -- Interim Public Safety Director Stacy Strickland was terminated by City of Guyton officials Wednesday.

Strickland was on administrative leave pending the results of an Effingham County Sheriff's Office investigation requested by Mayor Jeff Lariscy. The termination occurred shortly after city officials were notified of the findings.

Michael Clark, a Guyton patrol officer, was also placed on suspension as a result of the investigation.

According to a City of Guyton news release, city officials involved the sheriff's office in the matter after a citizen's complaint against Clark went unresolved.

Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie is acting as Guyton's public safety director.

A committee has been appointed to interview and consider numerous candidates for the opening, the release states.
